Mother's Day with Pat & Kat

Q: What are your plans for this Mother's Day?

Kat: Since we spend so much time together in-store it’s a treat for us to get out into the neighbourhood. This year we are going out shopping, finishing the day cozying in for a drink at a local Yorkville restaurant.

Pat: Although we work together, we also like to schedule time outside of work to catch up and chat about anything from our favourite television shows right now to our current inspirations.

Q: What prompted you to start working together?

Pat: At first it was a happy accident. Kat started when she needed a part-time job during school by helping with stock. It began with her having an interest in all aspects of the business. Kat had many questions and I started answering her, which she followed up with more questions. To be quite honest, she claimed the job for herself by just doing it - starting with becoming the buyer and then later moving to be my co-designer and partner.

Kat: I have always had an interest in what my mom does ever since I can remember. My mom has been and continues to be a role model for me, which also made my transition into our team that much more exciting. She works to offer a space where women can feel comfortable and cared for and really is the heart of our brand.

Q: What three words would you use to describe your relationship?

Kat: Fun, supportive, and genuine.

Our relationship has always been one that’s dependable. As we began working together, I realized all the work she put in day to day being an entrepreneur. It’s inspiring to have a female role model who is passionate about what she does and the care that she puts into each design. My mom is my closest confidante, we enjoy each other’s company and she is someone who I know I can rely on.

Pat: Respectful, adventuresome, and motivating.

Our bond is built on mutual respect and understanding of one another. We depend on each other for suggestions and support. I care for Kat but in a lot of respects, she cares for me too. I learn a lot from her and she keeps me looking at the world from a different perspective. Our inspirations also influence each other, so we really gain a lot from our closeness. She has grown into someone I consider a peer, and although she is still my baby, we have reached a place where we can’t wait to share our latest discoveries together.

Q: What is your favourite thing about the other?

Pat: It is so difficult to choose one thing, but I believe her generosity is something I have always been proud of.

Kat: Her ability to connect with others. She really listens to others needs and offers support. I feel like she is always caring for and considerate of the people around her every day.

Q: What are you looking forward to in the near future?

Kat: Although sustainability has always been a part of our brand, we are looking for new and creative ways to help women incorporate sustainability into their style and shopping habits. It has always been a personal belief of ours and we are working to make it one of our core values of the business.

Pat: We are excited to launch our new branding of Carry, to invite all the women in our diverse community to discover the power of honouring themselves. Well-fitting clothes promote well-being and encourage all women to fully enjoy their pregnancy.
