Maternity Photoshoot Inspo: Rihanna's Debut Baby Bump Look

Rihanna has announced that she is expecting her first baby! And her announcement came in the most Rihanna way possible - sporting a bright pink jacket open to display her bump, adorned with layered textural jewelry. This look is such a playful way to celebrate new life, and is great inspiration for a maternity photoshoot of your own.

We love this concept because it’s easy to achieve with items you may already own, and you can style it in whichever way makes you feel most comfortable (we’ve listed our favourites below). The peek-a-boo belly is a sweet way to make your bump the highlight of the shoot.

What you’ll need:

  • A camera and tripod or photographer
  • A cropped sweater or long button-up jacket
  • Costume jewelry & simple chains for lengthening necklaces

Start the look by layering on jewelry - to achieve the same dropped length as Rih consider using basic chains to add dimension over your belly. Get personal with family heirloom pieces, or jewels that usually feel *too* dressed up. Rihanna also has a layered chain belt on, so have fun with this part!

Next add a layer over top (this will conceal the basic chains we added for length). This could be a luxurious oversized cardigan, a loose cropped top, or an oversized collared shirt or jacket.

Any under-the-bump pant will work for bottoms, we love these jeans as an option, or you could try an oversized jean (hint: maybe in your partners closet)

Now you’re all set! Shoot this look in natural lighting to capture all the sparkling gems.

Tag us @carrymaternity if you try this for a maternity photoshoot! We can’t wait to see what maternity style Rihanna shares next.
